Asia is a continent where there is enough number of international teams to organize a tournament.
Asia Cup was first start in 1983 by Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to promote Cricket.They decided to organize this tournament after every two years.
The very first tournament was held in 1984 in Sharjah.Three teams( India , Pakistan and Sri Lanka) took part in this tournament. All previous Asia cups was of ODI formats except the two cups held in 1998 and 2001 which were test match.
Now for the first time Asia Cup 2016 is Scheduled in Twenty 20 format.
