The ICC World Twenty20 2016 will be the sixth ICC World Twenty20 tournament and is scheduled to be held in India from 8th March and will continue till 3rd April. India will host ICC World Twenty20 2016 for the first time.There are total 16 teams who will take part in this tournament. Sri Lanka will play as depending champions. The total 16 cricket teams are participating in this Twenty20 tournament and total 35 matches will be played.As at the previous 2014 edition, the 2016 World Twenty20 will feature sixteen teams. Ten teams qualified automatically through their status as full members of the International Cricket Council named India, Sri Lanka, South Africa, West Indies, Pakistan, Bangladesh, England, New Zealand, Australia, Zimbabwe, while another six qualified through the 2015 World Twenty20 Qualifier.The qualifying teams are Scotland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Afghanistan, Hong Kong and Oman. Oman is playing the tournament for the first time.
The Indian cricket board announced the name of the cities which will be hosting the matches. Seven Indian cities will host matches at the tournament, Bengaluru , Chennai, Mumbai, Nagpur , New Delhi, Mohali, Dharamshala and Kolkata. Kolkata will also host the final of the even at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
International Cricket Council(ICC) has announced the official sale of tickets for ICC World T20 2016 India beginning from 8th March. Tickets for wt20 can be purchased online from 24 February onwards and this is the first phase of tickets sale in which fans can buy tickets for all group matches of women’s and men’s fixtures.You can buy tickets only from bookmyshow.
